Alison and Demetri had a beautiful wedding at one of my favorite venue’s, the foundry! Everything was perfect, it was a beautiful Sunday in May and all the Ivy was blooming at the Foundry. They were married in a Greek Orthodox ceremony which I find so beautiful, I think it’s amazing how there are traditions during every wedding ceremony no matter what your beliefs that are so similar.

Rachel and Josh’s wedding was such a wonderful gathering of their friends and family. Going from each ceremony and tradition involved in the day there were so many glorious moments so I focused on the portraits for this blog post. When I first met Rachel and Josh we had a great connection and hoped that they would allow me to capture their wedding. The thing that stood out to me most from their story is the proposal, Josh left a scavenger hunt for Rachel based on where they first met and first dates and eventually proposed on the brooklyn bridge. The lengths Josh went to, I knew there was something special between them and was so honored to capture their love.

this is a post I’ve been wanting to write for over a year but could never quite find the right words so I’m just going to go for it!

when I started my photography business, I knew I didn’t want the perfectly posed images of everyone looking at the camera (the exception to this rule is family formals on a wedding day), that wasn’t what I wanted my work to look like and wasn’t what I would want hanging in my home.What I love about some of my wedding images is that they capture exactly who Chris and I are, we’re laughing and more than anything my husband makes me laugh. I always strive to capture who you are and not just what you look like now, I want your personalty to come out in every single way, in where we shoot, in what you wear and in how you display your images.

About a month ago I was watching the nate burkus show, and Deborah Needleman (founding editor of Domino magazine) was on the show talking about her book The Perfectly Imperfect Home I heard this quote and i loved this quote and felt that this was exactly what I was looking for to describe what I’m looking for in my photography. Granted she’s talking about decorating your home….

“It’s all about the idea that a house not only doesn’t need to be prefect which is a huge relief because we can’t get it perfect anyway but that a home is more charming and lovely and just nicer to be in when it’s not prefect. Live is kinda messy and hapazard and our lives our a bit quirky and if we can decorate to embrace that it’s just so much nicer, it’s nicer for us and for our guests..”

Like in the post the louis family I love the silly faces that come right before the big smile and it’s the real smile, not the smile that ones when mom’s saying “say cheese”! When mom was sitting in my studio for her session premiere she cried curing the slideshow and kept saying “that’s them!” this is my goal with everyone that I photograph.

some of my favorite images to capture are images of you doing things that are so beautiful and you have no idea that you’re doing them. with couples, there are these moment just in the touches and looks that are so incredibly beautiful and they are just passing movements that you don’t even realize you’re doing and they are so amazing and (in my opinion) so who you are!

the moral of the story is embrace everything that makes you quirky and who you are. let me in enough to capture these magical moments of exactly who you are in this moment and stop saying cheese

Teddy

9 Months ago someone came into my life who has captured my heart (as maybe a few other people’s as well!) For the complete story I have to go back about 2 1/2 years when we moved into our appartment . We had the pleasure of meeting through our dogs, as the months went on we started seeing more of each other. When we found out that Lisa was pregnante with Teddy (Claude at the time!) Chris and I couldn’t wait to meet him. We knew that especially since they lived so close that we would spend as much time as possible with Teddy. We’ve been around for countless bath times, emergency medical visits and bed time and love the time we get to spend with him.

The Louis Family- Long Island City

I have been a no good, very bad blogger and I am so sorry! But with the new year comes new resolutions and a new start but first here’s a quick recap of what’s been going on here with me.

In June after 8 years together I was asked to be my lovely (now) husband, (I still smile and giggle a little when I get to stay husband) wife and he made me the happiest girl in the world. In July I had the opportunity to become a full time photographer and then things got crazy! I became super busy (which I am so thankful for) combined with the planning of my own wedding and I got way behind on everything.

On December 17,2011 I had my dream wedding to my dream man surrounded by the people who mean the most to us and it was everything I could have ever imagined and has only given me a better perspective when it comes to my clients and how I want to capture them and their day. Then there was the craziness of the holidays and new years and then we were onto our honeymoon and it was just wonderful! I will share some pictures when I get a chance, but I am the worst at taking pictures for myself, it’s like the shoemaker’s children who have no shoes.

In the midst of everything going on I had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing clients that I had the chance to spend some time with. The first one I am going to share is the Louis Family who live just around the corner here in Long Island City!

Holidays

I know it’s only the 2nd of October and we’re just getting into fall but the holidays will be here before we know it.

I have AMAZING holiday cards and the best part is that no two cards will be the same!

There are (if I can remember my high school math) 2,592 different options for holiday cards this year and it’s so easy! (I promise you don’t need to look through all those designs).

The deadline for **ALL** Holiday Cards orders is **Monday November 28th.**

This is so that I can have them to you in time so you can send them out, the earlier the better.

Let’s face it, this winter was awful (and I love winter!) and Old Man Winter just wouldn’t move on. Well now that it’s finially beautiful outside, I’m spending every moment I can outside and when I got word that the Cherry Blossoms were in bloom, I knew where that weekends sessions were going to take place!

Mrs. S is following Old Man Winter to his summer home, You see Mrs. S is from Australia (I just love her accent) and is headed there any day now. Hopefully she’ll be back just in time to enjoy a little bit more of what New York Spring has to offer!

Sometime’s there a perfect storm that comes together of great clients and amazing light.

This was one of those times, I couldn’t have dreamed of the light that I had the pleasure of stumbling upon when Jennifer contacted me about getting some great shots of her in the meatpacking district. When we made it onto the high line and though the crowds I was speechless, which if you know anything about me, doesn’t happen very often, ok maybe not ever!

The light was epic, I mean seriously look at this, I couldn’t have dreamed of this let alone have it happen naturally…
